Negative Evidence

When learners produce utterances with errors, if they receive corrective feedback from teachers/peers explaining the correct use of the form, or if the teacher/peer recasts or repeats the utterances so that the correct from is used, thereby facilitating learners' noticing of the correct form.

Error correction can encourage students to build form-meaning relationships and, through self-correction, to push their output further in the direction of improved accuracy.

학습자가 오류가 있는 발화를 했을 때, 교사나 동료가 recast나 repeat으로 오류가 있다는 것을 인지하고 correct form을 사용하도록 유도 해주는 것이 negative evidence. (Correct form을 직접적으로 가르쳐주지 않음)

오류 수정은 형태와 의미사이의 관계를 형성하도록 해주며, self-correction을 통해 accuracy를 높이기 위해 pushed output을 유도할 수 있다.

Positive Evidence

Negative evidence와는 반대로 정확한 input을 제공하는 것.(well-formed sentences to which learners are exposed)
